Liefmans Oud Bruin for Rare Beer Tuesday (9/13)
Tomorrow is Tuesday, and like always we’ll be tapping a rare and exciting keg for growler fills at 5pm! This week’s feature is Oud Bruin, a Flanders Brown Ale by Brouwerij Liefmans from the Flemish region of Belgium. Oud Bruin translates to "old brown", a reference to the lengthy aging process the beer undergoes that can take up to a year. During this maturation process, the residual yeast and bacteria in the beer develop a delicate acidic tartness which compliments the base flavors of malt, caramel, fruit and toffee. The sweet/sour combination makes this style of beer a favorite in the craft beer world and this example is a world classic! We’re offering this beer in 32oz and 64oz fills, so if you haven’t been down to see our new growler sizes yet, come on down!
Charleston Breweries "Not Just For Vegetarians" Beer Dinner at Hominy Grill (10/2)
Yes, you read that right! On Sunday October 2nd at 7pm we’ll be presenting our second beer dinner with our friends at the highly acclaimed and newly renovated Hominy Grill! For this beer dinner we’ve decided to showcase all four Charleston breweries: Palmetto, COAST, Westbrook and Holy City! Brewers/owners from each will be on hand to discuss their beers and share the evening with attendees. We’ve also decided to switch things up even more by doing a completely vegetarian menu! We want to stress that this is not exclusively for vegetarians, it is for everyone that likes great food! Chef Robert Stehling has put together six delicious courses and we’ve paired two beers per course from the four breweries for what will be a truly remarkable evening! We’ll post the official menu and beer pairings when they’re finalized.
