Oaked Arrogant Bastard Firkin, Palmetto Aftershock Tasting/Book Party, Hominy Grill Beer Dinner!

Greetings Beer Lovers Everywhere!

The week ahead has some fantastic events in store both at The Charleston Beer Exchange and beyond!  Read on for all the news that’s fit to brew:

An Arrogant Stone Cask for Rare Beer Tuesday! (9/27)
Our extra special "Rare Beer Tuesday" growler event tomorrow at 5pm will be even more unusual than usual! Yep, you read that right!  This go around we’ll be gravity tapping a cask (firkin) of Stone Brewing Co.’s Arrogant Bastard Ale aged on American Oak.  This is a unique opportunity to try a real ale version of a Stone signature beer jazzed up with extra oaky bells and whistles!  We will be offering this in all 3 of our growler sizes so there is a perfect fit for everyone!  Don’t miss out. (For those unfamiliar with real cask ale, it is beer in its purest form: free of force carbonation and filtration.  Unlike our normal growlers, these must be consumed the same day so plan accordingly.)

Official Release Day of Citrus Ninja Exchange Double IPA (9/29)
This Thursday, at opening, will be the official launch date of a brand new double IPA that is near and dear to our hearts because we helped make it!  In a special collaboration between The Beer Exchange and Westbrook Brewing Co., we brewed this Cascade hop-heavy double IPA (dry hopped 4 times!) to be loaded with bold citrus character and a profile to satisfy even the most demanding hop-head!  At approximately 9% ABV, this is a big beer to savor and enjoy.  This is a draft only release, available in growlers starting Thursday at The Charleston Beer Exchange, The Greenville Beer Exchange and Westbrook Brewing Co. and popping up at select better bars and restaurants around the state at later dates.  Get it while you can!

Palmetto Aftershock Launch/Tasting & Upheaval Book Party (9/29)
Also going on Thursday, from 5pm to 7pm, we’ll be hosting a free tasting and launch party for both Palmetto Brewing’s brand new beer "Aftershock" and a new book, both of which pay homage to Charleston’s great earthquake of 1886, the largest to ever hit the east coast of the U.S.  To commemorate the 125th anniversary of the earthquake, authors Susan Millar Williams and Stephen G. Hoffius have released a fantastic new book called "Upheaval in Charleston: Earthquake and Murder on the Eve of Jim Crow".  They will be here to sign copies of the book which will be available on site.

Charleston Breweries "Not Just for Vegetarians" Beer Dinner (10/2)
The beer dinner to be at this season is at Hominy Grill on Sunday, October 2nd!  All four of Charleston’s breweries will be on hand (that’s Palmetto, COAST, Westbrook & Holy City just to be sure), showing their specialties in a unique format: there will be 6 courses each paired with 2 different beers from 2 of the different breweries!  That’s an impressive 12 beers total accompanying a delightful vegetarian-friendly (but great for everyone) meal crafted by none other than Robert Stehling and his terrific crew at Hominy Grill.  To see the menu click here.  Seats for this spectacular event are going fast so call Hominy Grill at (843) 937-0930 to secure your reservations.  We look forward to seeing you there!
